Anchor Community Care is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Josh Fergeus as Chair of the Board, following a considered recruitment process.
Dr Fergeus’ impressive background of relevant sector leadership includes over 20 years of experience in the design, delivery and governance of social services.
Having led multiple social services organisations as both a Chair and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Fergeus is particularly well suited to leading Anchor’s strategic and governance work.
“I’m so excited to be joining Anchor as Chair of the Board, having known about the work of Anchor for more than 20 years,” Dr Fergeus said.
“I’ve spent a lot of my career focussing on issues in out of home care and trying to make the world a better place for children and young people and that’s something that Anchor does really well.”
“50 years as an organisation in the space is an amazing achievement. Anchor offers some excellent initiatives, programs and services which have great potential to make a very profound impact, not just here in Melbourne and Victoria, but beyond,” he said.
“Their work in the out of home care space, homelessness and youth homelessness, is really dear to me. During my time on the board, I want to focus on helping the organisation to be the best that it can be.”
Anchor CEO, Heidi Tucker says that Dr Fergeus’ breadth of experience in the out of home care sector, along with his outstanding leadership and policy skills made him a standout candidate for leading Anchor’s Board.
“Josh’s experience is an asset to the whole sector, and we are thrilled that he is set to join us.”
“I truly believe that Josh is part of the next generation of leaders in the out of home sector. He is someone who has the talent and experience to really drive and influence bigger-picture thinking.”
In welcoming Dr Fergeus, Ms Tucker also paid tribute to Michael Deidun for his role as Interim Chair:
“Michael has been a highly valued member of the Anchor Board for six years now. The stability and leadership that he brings to the board are truly appreciated.”
