The amazing team at Myer Eastland held their 6th ever movie fundraising night, with a packed-out screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2 at Hoyts Eastland.

Popcorn, choc tops and goodie bags were top of the order. Some lucky people even walked away with gift packs donated by Myer for the raffle.

All proceeds of the evening go to supporting Anchor’s homelessness clients. This is an incredible yearly effort by the Myer Eastland staff whose donations help to ensure people don’t become trapped in cycles of homelessness.

Donations provide practical support, such as covering a night’s accommodation, providing train and bus fares, topping up the pantry and fridge with food, or covering an unexpected car repair bill.

Speaking to the audience before the film, Anchor Executive Manager of Business Development, Georgina Van Stekelenburg highlighted that the small acts of support ensures a family or young person doesn’t fall further behind. It can mean they don’t have to choose between eating or heating.

“Behind every program and every statistic, there are individual people and families trying to build stability, safety, and hope in their lives. And the difference between crisis and recovery is often the presence of consistent, skilled, and compassionate support,” she said.

The night is another reminder of the continued efforts by the Myer Eastland staff to support Anchor’s work and create compassion and hope in the community.

This follows the amazing news from last year, where Myer Eastland’s Irene Grant was awarded the Australian Heroes of Retail Risk – Community Hero Award for her work supporting Anchor.
