Young people at Anchor Community Care’s Youth Foyer recently got their hands dirty during a special winter gardening session in the Foyer hub garden.

Anchor was thrilled to welcome Thomas from Bunnings Lilydale, who joined our young people and Youth Foyer team to dig, plant and prepare the garden for spring.

The hands-on session was a fun opportunity for young people experiencing or at risk of youth homelessness to learn new skills, work together and take ownership of the shared space they call home.

Our budding horticulturalists will now help maintain the garden and watch their hard work grow over the coming months.

Anchor’s Youth Foyer is all about supporting young people’s aspirations and goals. Sometimes this looks like simple fun things such as gardening, learning new skills, and contributing to the space where they live.

It all helps move towards a positive future and a pathway out of homelessness.

A huge thank you to Bunnings Lilydale for continuing to support Anchor and helping young people in our community grow — in more ways than one!
