We recently received a heartfelt email from a mother of some high school girls, asking if they could collect donations to support people experiencing homelessness as part of a school community engagement project.
We were touched by their thoughtfulness—but nothing could have prepared us for the incredible generosity that followed.
Six enormous hampers filled with essential food items arrived at our office, alongside a large bag packed with warm winter clothing. These donations couldn’t have come at a better time, as the cold weather continues to make life even harder for people without a safe place to call home.
What makes this even more special is that the drive was entirely led by three students in Years 7 and 8. Their compassion, initiative, and dedication are truly inspiring—and a reminder that anyone, no matter their age, can make a real difference.
To the students, and to everyone from Harkaway Hills College who contributed to their donation drive: thank you. Your support is helping bring warmth, comfort, and hope to those who need it most.
