At Anchor, we are always inspired when clients share their experiences of the support they’ve received.
Positive feedback reminds us why our work matters, especially during a housing crisis where good outcomes can take time to achieve.
Lisa’s story is a great example of how empathy, persistence and care create real pathways from homelessness.
Kudos go to Gemma, one of our amazing Homelessness Support Service’s Case Managers.
“Gemma was my case worker and she helped me in so many ways!
I had been finding it very hard to find accommodation to suit my needs. I was living in my vehicle and had exhausted all avenues in finding somewhere to live.
I requested to look for public housing, Gemma listened to my needs and a place was available and I have been placed within weeks of our meeting. My moving in date I had arrived to a big box of fruit and vegetables which helped tremendously as I hadn’t had a chance to do shopping and it was such a fabulous gesture.
I felt for the first time in a long time that someone cared! An emergency came up and I could not be around for the arrival of my lounge furniture and Gemma met the truck for me.
I understand that this is her Job but she really took care of everything!”-Lisa, Anchor client
