Amongst the jam-packed event calendar for this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival, one show bravely put a spotlight on Foster Caring and discussed the highs and lows of becoming a Foster Carer.

Kiri Pritchard-McLean has turned her experience of becoming a Foster Carer into a comedy show which she has taken around the world.

Her unique style and whole-hearted passion for talking about becoming a carer make for a brilliant show that covers everything from her motivation for becoming a carer, through to the recruitment and accreditation process.

Kiri’s brilliant observational humour and ability to inject humour into all situations provide a great insight into the full journey that prospective carers take.

Anchor was fortunate to get to speak with Kiri during her festival run in Melbourne where she gave her perspective on some tricky carer questions such as:

  • Is there ever a ‘right time’ to become a foster carer?
  • How do you balance carer duties with your comedy career?
  • Have you ever doubted your decision to become a carer?

You can watch the video of the chat we had with Kiri below. Make sure to share it with your friends and contacts who are thinking about becoming a carer.

In our opinion, Kiri is one of the most passionate and energetic ambassadors for Foster Care we have ever seen.
